Join us Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 7pm for an author talk featuring Dr. Walter Curry. Dr. Curry's book, "The Thompson Family: Untold Stories of the Past (1830-1960)" is the first volume chronicling the family history of an African American family from Salley, South Carolina. Several narratives are featured, including a slave who purchased his freedom, a relative who served as a cook in the Confederate Army, a young relative who was tragically murdered, and a sharecropper who became a prominent soil conservationist. The book is the 2019 International African American Historical and Genealogical Society Book Award Winner.
